Road Map to Demo


Dear Pilgrims,

On December 1st, we released our massive update to You Will Not Survive; we were able to play test with everyone our vision of the Dark Action Roguelike we've been crafting for the past 10 months. With the update (and a few hotfixes) in the rearview, what's next for us at Dethsoft and YWNS?

The official Steam Demo Release is this spring, and we will participate in the June Steamfest, followed by our Early Access release.

With that in mind, there are A TON of features and new enemies/items/weapons we want to cram in before the Steam Demo drops.

MAJOR ADDITIONS

  • Enemy currency drop and in-game currency system. (Enemies will drop currency, which will factor into scoring and NPC interactions)
  • Run Completion Screen & Scoring  (Whether you win or lose, your final score will be compiled based on numerous factors)
  • Combo Scoring (Gain more DEATH when you don't get hit, run up the score multiplier to reap massive rewards in-game)
  • Ultimate System Refinement: Absorb bullets to charge ultimate, make Ultimates more impactful in-game

TUTORIAL DUNGEON (NOXUM NIGHTMARE) REBUILD

  • Rooms will be rebuilt and repopulated to improve pacing and allow full backtracking
  • The tutorial sections will be reworked to be slower and take more rooms; we want to improve the pacing of learning all of You Will Not Survives Mechanics.
  • Add Portal Colors that will hint at what kind of room is ahead (RED = Combat, BLUE = NPC, BLACK = Boss) 

ENEMY CHANGES

  • Introing 3 new mob-style enemies.
  • Rework Existing enemies to be more bullet-centric
  • Adjustments to select enemy HP pools.

NPC ADDITIONS 

  • The Crow - Challenges the player to an ultra-hard challenge room, that gives plentiful rewards if conquered.
  • Cirdan - Sells the player a selection of 3 weapons & items for DEATH.
  • Mozree - Sells the player a beast egg for DEATH.

Weapons Adds:

  • Death Dealer’s Scythe (Sweeping Dark Melee Attack)
  • Red Edge of Yuria (Large Fire Melee Attack)
  • Her Truth (Fast Holy Blade Projectile)
  • Eye of Guilt (Short-Ranged Holy Blast)
  • Her Infinite Light (Auto Holy Projectile)
  • Worm God’s Blessing (Auto Dark Projectile)
  • Toxic Fangs (Fast Poison Melee Attack)

Items Adds:

  • Band of the Bulwark (Increase DARK damage dealt)
  • Encampment Medallion (Increase LIGHT damage dealt)
  • Burrow Worm (Increase CRIT RATE, Decrease ARMOR)
  • Luta's Silver Compass (Increase all stats)
  • Raptor Talon (Increase CRIT DMG, Decrease ATTACK SPEED)
  • Molten Heart (Increase ATK, Decrease HP)
  • Jester’s Cap (Double damage dealt, Double damage taken)
  • Wicker Doll (Takes 1 Fatal Hit for player)
  • Conclave Bell (Decrease all enemy HP by 10%)
  • Felfrost Flame (Increases ATTACK and ATTACK SPEED if HP is at MAX)
  • Eye of Julian (Increases ATTACK proportional to HP lost)

Add Ultimates:

  • Yuria’s Rage
  • Yorn & Yoggs Protection
  • Crow Storm

BALANCE:

  • Pouches Initiative will throw 3 at once in a spread fan at level 1 and increase
  • Idiot Helm changed to Increase Armor by 10%
  • Seal of Righteous and `Heavy` Weapons will have kickback on firing.
  • Hag Staff moved to Defensive/Auto weapons
  • Arcane Explosion attack speed slowed, damage buffed
  • Start with 2 swamp suckers, base attack size increased
  • If a healing item is received when HP is MAX, increase MAX life by 10%
  • Reduce Passive Heal on Striver to 0
  • Increase Striver Armor to 20%
  • Reduce Passive Heal on Distitue to 1
  • Reduce Distitue base HP to 50
  • Increase Destitute Speed to 5%
  • Increase Young Crow Crit DMG to 175%
  • Increase Pyromancer Attack Size to 20%
  • Increase Artificer Attack Size to 30%

QoL/Bugs:

  • If a player ranks A or above for a room, 1 power-up option will be for a weapon they already hold
  • Smooth out the camera movement.
  • Have the option to have a fixed camera.
  • Have the option to remove the aim dot.
  • Add Aim asset to all weapons/slight homing.
  • Hover over passive items/show the description in the bottom left
  • Add elemental color text to each weapon/item description FIRE/LIGHT/DARK/POISON
  • Enemy Spawn animation add
  • Add power aura to player sprite based on alignment
  • Delay on perfect fight boss chests.
  • Glutton will always give new items/weapons.
  • Serpent's Idol adjusted.
  • Weighted RNG for item/weapon pick-ups. Items/Weapons broken down into rarity categories.
