The foundation of the gameplay is pretty solid, l enjoy the overall atmospheric experience so far, I think that the level decorative elements can be improved by reducing the randomness if that makes sense. I can see this title growing to a fully developed and addictive game. Keep the good work Dethsoft!
While exploring the Forsaken Lands I had a chance to try a local delicacy, the enchanting beverage known as Noxium Brew. You're not going to find a better taste for this number of calories out here. However, I suggest tourists do not overindulge, as I woke up with a terrible hangover after experiencing the most bizarre dream I have ever had. Smelled like seared flesh the entire next day... would drink again.
Having fun with this. Really nostalgic arcade feel. Feels polished, mechanics are familiar enough to naturally understand but unique enough to feel fresh. Super fun.
Comments so far:
- I have stopped moving to allow the camera to recenter a few times.
- I have found myself avoiding using the bottom of the screen due to the flames in the user interface covering it.
Absolutely loving this so far! Love the tone, the general game feel, items are unique and interesting visually and mechanically. Sound effects are great, upgrade screens are beautiful.
Some possible suggestions (all very minor and just with purpose of making the game even better, though feel free to ignore because I may be missing the reason they are as they are and the design choices behind them)
Bigger map would be nice, doesn't have to be pseudo procedural and endless but more would definitely be good.
Might be just a skill issue on my part but having both the mouse pointer AND aiming reticule is difficult for me and causes me to lose the aiming reticule. Maybe during combat disable mouse unless people are tabbed to inventory or item selection/upgrade selection screen.
Also maybe a a few more seconds before enemies start coming out after picking the upgrade. A few times The splash screen in the middle would obfuscate enemy attacks and positions.
If I select a new power, let's say to replace my current left mouse button, it currently doesn't auto equip it, would be nice to have it auto equip, or bring up the inventory by default and give me the choice. I found myself forgetting to hit tab and switch out to new abilities and most of the time in these games I'm going to want to have the new skill on by default. I usually would remember once the next wave started by which point I would die if I hit tab as the game keeps running.
Not sure how often this is an issue but the super cool looking purple flames at the bottom middle of the hud I've been finding hide the enemies sometimes and I get rocked by a projectile out of nowhere. Maybe scaling down the hud helps or slight reduction on size of flames. I love the effect so don't want to see it go....I also may have to just get good as well.
Once again amazing job! Can't wait to play more!! Think this has the chance to be on Vampire survivors level if not bigger!
This game has pontential to become very addictive. I love the Vamprire survoivor genere and this gives the same feeling while requiring more skill to manage your dashes and target priority. The graphics is stunning, but the music seems temporary and is a bit annoying. For the mood set by the game I would suggest a dark moody base with an upbeat combat music that slowly creeps in on round start.
The map is also a bit small and gets repetitive fast. The decoration flames also are distracting and capture your focus since they are the same colors as the enemies auras. They don't even indicate what is your current form either so it's just confusing.
Overall I love the idea and this could become a big game in the genere if more refined and with more content ofc.
